Competitions
Competitions provide an opportunity for VUWLSS members to hone their legal skills through practical experience. They involve real and tangible application of the law to simulated scenarios. Competing will extend your legal knowledge
VUWLSS organises and runs four main competitions annually: mooting, negotiation, client interviewing and witness examination. These events are open to all law students. Additionally, VUWLSS runs a mooting and negotiation competition specifically for 200-level students. VUWLSS runs competition training sessions targeted at both beginner and advanced levels to foster professional and personal development.
Competing in legal competitions carries a lot of prestige both within the University and the wider legal industry. Winners represent Victoria University of Wellington at the New Zealand Law Students’ Association national competitions. Opportunities to attend a number of international competitions are also available to VUWLSS members.
